The Welsh Academy Dictionary was first published in 1995 by the University of Wales Press under the editorship of Bruce Griffiths and Dafydd Glyn Jones. Since then the printed dictionary has been through many reprints, and it was the editors’ wish that it should continue to develop and grow as a valuable resource to scholars and the public in general.

The original print dictionary was intended as an English to Welsh dictionary. The on-line version may be searched using an English or a Welsh interface. We hope that you will find using this first on-line version both useful and enjoyable. Users are welcome to send any feedback on their experiences to post@cyg-wlc.wales.
